Today the President of the General Assembly met with Mr. Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA), ahead of the General Assembly meeting to hear a briefing on Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA.
The President of the General Assembly and the Commissioner-General discussed the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and the efforts of Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA to provide life-saving assistance to Palestine refugees. They?also?discussed the challenges facing Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA, both financially and politically. The President of the General Assembly stressed his appreciation for the work of the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ agency throughout the years and expressed support for sustainable and predictable funding for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA.
