ASSEMBLY PRESIDENT TO TRAVEL TO TURKEY

United Nations, New York, 9 August 2018 – The President of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Miroslav Laj?ák, will visit Turkey on Monday, 13 August.

 

In Ankara, the President will deliver remarks at the tenth annual Turkish Ambassadors’ Conference. This annual gathering focuses on Turkey’s foreign policy, and every year international dignitaries are invited to address it. The President’s statement will address the state of multilateralism, as well as his priorities, including United Nations reform processes.

 

While in the Turkish capital, President Laj?ák will also attend a luncheon hosted by H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdo?an, President of Turkey, and meet bilaterally with H.E. Mr. Mevlüt ?avu?o?lu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey.

 

The President will travel to Turkey with his Spokesperson, Mr. Brenden Varma; and his Senior Advisors, Ms. Elif ?al??kan and Mr. Michal Komada.

 

Travel costs will be covered by the Trust Fund of the Office of the President of the General Assembly, with some support being provided by the Governments of Slovakia and Turkey.
