COP28 signals beginning of the end of the fossil fuel era
In a demonstration of global cooperation, negotiators from nearly 200 countries for the first time recognized the need to transition away from fossil fuels. ¡°Whilst we didn¡¯t turn the page on the fossil fuel era in Dubai, this outcome is the beginning of the end,¡± said Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Climate Change Executive Secretary Simon Stiell in his . Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ chief Ant¨®nio Guterres emphasized that the era of fossil fuels must end with justice and equity. ¡°Developing countries must be supported every step of the way,¡± he said in his statement on the closing of COP28.
