Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Countering Terrorist Travel (CT Travel) Programme concluded a three-day coordination visit to the Office of the National Security Adviser¡¯s National Counter-Terrorism Centre and Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja to advance the implementation of Advance Passenger Information (API) and Passenger Name Record (PNR) capabilities.

Bringing together 37 national decision-makers and operational experts from key competent authorities, the visit focused on strengthening national coordination and accelerating the operationalization of passenger data capabilities to combat terrorism and serious crime.

Key discussions included:

• Progress on API and PNR implementation and next steps for the NIS Command and Control Centre;
• Strengthening inter-agency governance to support inclusive decision-making, information sharing, and coordinated responses to terrorism and serious crime;
• Enhancing understanding of Automated Targeting Solutions and Border Security Management Tools and their complementary use;
• Reinforcing passenger data protection in line with international best practices; and
• Identifying future capacity-building and training needs.

By fostering national partnerships and technical cooperation, the CTTravel Programme supports Member States in developing secure, efficient, and rights-based passenger data systems that help detect and prevent terrorist travel while addressing serious crime.

The meeting took place under the United Nations Countering Terrorist Travel (CT Travel) Programme, in partnership with International Organization for Migration (?IOM).

The CT Travel Programme is led by the ?United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵOCT), and implemented through a ¡®One?Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ¡¯ partnership together with United Nations Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵODC), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), and IOM ¨C Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Migration.
