Families are forced to move repeatedly in search of safety.<\/li>\n<li>As of 13 December,\u00a0<strong>nearly 1.4 million internally displaced persons (IDPs)<\/strong>\u00a0were sheltering in\u00a0<strong>155 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA facilities\u00a0<\/strong>across all five governorates of the Gaza Strip, including in the North and Gaza City. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA shelter information is updated daily to the extent possible; the information for north Gaza and Gaza City was last updated 12 October due to access constraints and security situation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>More than 1.2 million IDPs are sheltering in 98 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA facilities in the Middle, Khan Younis and Rafah areas<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the period between 21 October and 10 December,\u00a0<strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA distributed 11,122 metric tons (MT) of flour<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>In the same period, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA delivered to Gaza:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>419 MT of medicines and medical supplies\u00a0<\/strong>with a total value of more than US$ 1.7 million.<\/li>\n<li>Over\u00a0<strong>11.6 million litres of water<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>2.5 million units of high energy biscuits<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nearly 1.5 million cans of protein-based food<\/strong>, including beans, chicken, beef and canned meat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Over 4.5 million units of dairy items<\/strong>\u00a0(cheese).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Other food items<\/strong>\u00a0including dates, cake and juice.<\/li>\n<li>Non-food items (NFI) including 44,045\u00a0<strong>mattresses<\/strong>; 62,765\u00a0<strong>family hygiene kits<\/strong>; almost 1.4 million\u00a0<strong>diapers<\/strong>; 47,530\u00a0<strong>blankets<\/strong>; and 635,169\u00a0<strong>cleaning supply items<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The West Bank, including East Jerusalem<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 15 December Israeli Security Forces (ISF) started a search and arrest operation in Nur Shams refugee camp in the northern West Bank. ISF surrounded the camp and declared it a closed military area.\u00a0 ISF reportedly fired several missiles from a drone and detonated one house in the camp. Bulldozers were used to damage camp infrastructure. At the time of writing, five Palestinians have been killed, two injured and four arrested. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA operations in the camp were severely impacted.<\/li>\n<li>ISF search and arrest operations were also reported in Tulkarem and in Deir\u2019 Ammar refugee camp.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"media media-element-container media-color_box\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-file-image-alt-text field-type-text field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">Palestinian woman takes shelter amidst the rain in tents for displaced people in Deir El-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip, on 13 December 2023. \u00a9 2023 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA Photo by Ashraf Amra<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"blue-background\"><strong>Overall Situation\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The Gaza Strip<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Due to the shutdown of telecommunications and internet services in Gaza, which started on 14 December the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Gaza has not updated its casualty figures. Between 7 October and the afternoon of\u00a0<strong>14 December<\/strong>\u00a0MOH has reported that\u00a0<strong>18,787 Palestinians<\/strong>\u00a0have been killed in Gaza, about 70 per cent of whom are reported to be women and children, and over\u00a0<strong>50,589<\/strong>\u00a0have reportedly been injured.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The West Bank<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>According to OCHA, since 7 October 268 Palestinians have been killed by ISF in the West Bank, including 70 children. In addition, eight Palestinians, have been killed by Israeli settlers and a further two killed either by ISF or settlers.<\/li>\n<li>This year (2023) has been the deadliest year for Palestinians killed in the West Bank since the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ began recording casualties in 2005.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"blue-background\"><strong>Humanitarian Access, Protection of Civilians\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The Gaza Strip<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA is working to verify the details of incidents reportedly affecting Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA premises between 14\u201316 December. Further information will be provided once it becomes available.<\/li>\n<li>On 14 December 2023, different incidents have been reported impacting Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA installations and the IDPs sheltering there. While verification of details and casualty figures are ongoing, initial reports indicate: eight IDPs were injured in one school in Al-Shabora Camp in Rafah, and collateral damage was caused to another school in the same incident; and in Khan Younis, one IDP child was injured in the Khan Younis Vocational Training Centre by a stray bullet.<\/li>\n<li>Additionally, five schools which were not sheltering IDPs in Jabalia Camp were assessed to be damaged \u2013 for three of these it is reported that the IDPs had been forcefully evacuated on 11 December.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong><u>There were no reported incidents on 15 \u2013 16 December 2023<\/u>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>174<\/strong>\u00a0incidents impacting Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA premises and the people inside them have been reported since the beginning of the war (some with multiple incidents impacting the same location), including at least\u00a0<strong>18<\/strong>\u00a0incidents of military use and\/or interference at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA premises.\u00a0<strong>54\u00a0<\/strong>different Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA installations were directly hit and\u00a0<strong>61<\/strong>\u00a0different installations sustained collateral damage.<\/li>\n<li>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA estimates that in total at least\u00a0<strong><u>297<\/u>\u00a0<\/strong>IDPs sheltering in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA shelters have been killed and at least a further\u00a0<strong><u>1,032<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0injured since the start of the war. Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA is still verifying the number of casualties caused by\u00a0incidents that impacted its installations, and notes that these figures do not include some reported casualties where the number of injuries could not be determined.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"blue-background\"><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA Response \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"gray-background\"><strong>The Gaza Strip\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA Shelters\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In total,\u00a0<strong>nearly 1.4 million displaced people are now sheltering in 155 Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA installations<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The average number of IDPs in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA shelters located in middle and southern areas is\u00a0<strong>12,387, more than four times their capacity.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blue\" style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>Due to internet outage we are unable to provide any updates since December 13.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eight (out of 22) Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA health centres are still operational in the Middle and Southern areas, recording\u00a0<strong>8,265 patients visits on 13 December,<\/strong>\u00a0including Palestine Refugees and non-refugees.<\/li>\n<li>Midwives are providing care for post-natal and high-risk pregnant women at the eight operational health centres. There are an estimated 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza, with more than 180 giving birth every day.\u00a0<strong>A total of 124 post-natal and high-risk pregnancy cases were attended to at health centres.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA continued to provide health care to IDPs at shelters through 97 medical teams.<\/strong>\u00a0Each team is composed of one &#8211; two doctors and a nurse.\u202f<strong>\u00a0591 health workers in health centres and shelters provided support to 12,305 patients.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>On December 13, Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA medical teams responded to 1,013 mental health cases, including individual consultations, awareness sessions and support for gender-based violence cases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Psychosocial support (PSS)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"blue\" style=\"color: #3366ff\"><em>Due to internet outage we are unable to provide any updates since December 12.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA teams, including 284 social workers in the shelters, provided psychosocial first aid and other specialized protection services to IDPs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Psychosocial support (PSS) efforts continued to be delivered in Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµRWA shelters by a team\u00a0<strong>of 284 school counsellors.
