This map presents an analysis of shelters and tents across the occupied Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip, highlighting shelters and tents exposed to floodwaters, strong winds, and sea surge identified from satellite imagery acquired on 15 December 2025 and 11 January 2026. The analysis is based on very high-resolution satellite imagery and spatial ground datasets to assess the impact of severe weather conditions during December 2025 and January 2026. A total of 283,566 shelters/tents were identified across the Gaza Strip from space imagery as of 11 January 2026: 148,648 in Khan Younis, 81,921 in Deir Al Balah, and 32,204 in Gaza Governorate. Based on a combination of satellite observations and ground data related to reported floods and floodprone areas from OCHA, we estimate that at least 76,509 shelters were potentially affected by or directly exposed to flooding. Additionally, approximately 40,670 shelters/tents located close to the shoreline have been identified as being in areas highly exposed to sea surge risk and strong winds, mainly in Khan Younis Governorate with 21,362 shelters/tents and Deir Al Balah with 12,553 shelters/ tents. Using the population dataset from Real Good Research Ltd., we estimate that approximately 850,769 people were exposed to floods and 219,746 were exposed to areas with high risk of sea surge and strong wind impact.
