Middle?East?

• On 4 February,??issued a press release to inform?that after?nearly two?years of complete closure of Rafah Crossing following it seizure by Israel on 7 May 2024, the crossing has been reopened under a tightly controlled regime.?Under the current mechanism, all movement through the crossing is subject to prior Israeli approval, with Palestinian civilians—including medical evacuees such as patients and the wounded, as well as individuals?seeking?to return to Gaza—filtered through pre-approved lists and a militarized screening corridor.?Accordingly,?Al Mezan calls on the international community to intervene urgently and without delay to put an end to Israel’s weaponization of the Rafah Crossing and to address the grave humanitarian and legal consequences resulting from its operation as a system of control and punishment.??

• On 4 February,??launched the campaign?“The state can afford to wait – the patients?can’t. They are dying!”?on?World Cancer Day.?In Gaza, 5,000 cancer patients are in critical condition and urgently require surgeries and life-saving treatments that are unavailable locally.?PHR?called?on doctors and medical teams in Israel and around the world to join the demand to the Minister of Defense to allow the transfer of patients from Gaza to the West Bank and East Jerusalem.?

• On 3 February,??condemned the?Knesset’s?proposed law, which?would?establish?a statutory body parallel to the Israel Antiquities Authority,?operating?specifically in the West Bank. The new Heritage Authority would be granted broader powers than those held by the Israel Antiquities Authority inside Israel?with regard to?land?containing?potential antiquities.?Peace Now said?the bill?represents?a political and diplomatic threat, opening the door to land appropriation.?

• On 2 February,??issued a statement?to inform about its submission to 蘑菇视频 Expert Mechanism on the Right of Indigenous Peoples. The submission?draws the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples’ attention to irreparable harm posed by the exploitation of Palestinian natural resources and the imposition of foreign-led governance frameworks.?Al-Haq stresses that Palestine is not in a post-conflict situation but?remains?under unlawful occupation.?It adds, “Any attempt to impose foreign governance or exploit Palestinian natural resources under the guise of peace and reconstruction serves only to protect Israel’s impunity and advance its settler-colonial ambitions?[…]”.??

• On 1 February, the??issued the statement “Another Bloody Day in Gaza Exposes the Sham Ceasefire and the Ongoing Systematic Bloodshed of Palestinians”.?笔颁贬搁?谤别辫辞谤迟别诲?迟丑补迟?since the ceasefire was declared on 10 October 2025, the IDF have continued air and artillery bombardments, gunfire, and recurrent demolitions within areas?located?along the so-called “yellow line,” aimed at destroying the remaining houses and buildings.??

• On?29?January,??shared?a joint statement?to?welcome the?official start of preparatory work for a Crimes Against Humanity Convention, as?a significant opportunity to ensure an inclusive instrument that addresses long-standing gaps in the protection against gender-based crimes, particularly for women and girls.?

Africa,?Asia?and?Europe?

• On?5 February,??shared their recent research, conducted jointly with HelpAge?International,?on older people in Gaza?that?are suffering an overlooked physical and mental health crisis amid Israel’s ongoing blockade of aid and essential medicines?and the recent ban on humanitarian organizations.?HelpAge International surveyed 416 older people in Gaza, and published its findings in a new report?,?today. Amid severe food deprivation and the collapse of essential services, older people face distinct and often overlooked risks.?Amnesty?stated, “Despite a reduction in scale of attacks since the October 2025 ceasefire agreement, there has been??in Gaza and no evidence to indicate that Israel’s intent to commit genocide has changed.”?

• On 3 February,??published the article “The Future of the West Bank: Settler Takeover and Annexation”.?The?objectives?of Israeli policy in the West Bank have become increasingly explicit and remain fundamentally incompatible with any future in which Palestinians are free and sovereign. The long-standing approach of?managing the conflict?without addressing its root causes has become untenable, Al-Shabaka?stated.??

• On 30 January,??published an “Open?Letter to President Emmanuel Macron: We call on France to protect Palestinian civil society organizations from the systematic targeting carried out by the Israeli government”.?The undersigned organizations called on France to strongly and publicly condemn?any serious attack on Palestinian civic space,?to ensure a genuine policy of protection of Palestinian civil society organizations and their employees through concrete measures,?and to act on the persistent abuses committed by the Israeli authorities, including by pushing firmly for actions at the European Union level.?

North?America?

• On 4 February, the??issued the article “Israeli Occupation Forces’ Raids at Birzeit University Signal Escalation in Targeting Palestinian Campuses”.?The article explains how?Birzeit is?primed as a target for ongoing military presence, not only because it is the most prominent university in the West Bank, but because it stands as a?significant educational hub where students can be?continuously?informed and motivated to step up against settler colonialism and Israel’s prolonged violent Occupation.??

• On 4 February, over 160 NGOs, trade unions, and civil society organizations, including?, have called on the European Union to ban trade and business with Israeli settlements in the OPT, including East Jerusalem.?In?a??addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the groups urged action to?comply with?international law and to halt Europe’s support for the illegal settlement enterprise and its underlying abuses.?The call comes as international attention shifts to “day after” scenarios amid a fragile Gaza ceasefire and?continued suffering?of Palestinians there, while in the West Bank Israeli authorities expand their illegal settlements and?intensify?their repression of Palestinians, HRW underscored.?

• On 2?February,??hosted the discussion?with filmmaker and activist?Jen Marlowe?about the film?“. The film, released in late 2025, tells the story of Mohamad Saleh, a teenager from Gaza who has endured five major Israeli assaults, lost his home, close family members, his best friends, and?at the age of 12,?his leg.?FMEP?discusses?disablement,?disability?justice, and Gaza, which now has the largest cohort of child amputees in the world.?

United?Nations?

• On?4 February, the??condemned a?series of new Israeli operations and settlement plans in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem,?which?risk seriously undermining the viability of a Palestinian state and the realization of the Palestinians’ right to self-determination.?OHCHR called for the settlement activities?to?stop; Israeli settlements?to?be evacuated; and the Israeli unlawful presence in the occupied Palestinian territory?to?end.??

• On 3 February 2026, the?蘑菇视频 Committee for Palestinian Rights?organized, at 10 a.m. in the ECOSOC Chamber at 蘑菇视频 headquarters, its first annual meeting to elect the Committee Bureau and adopt the annual Programme of Work.?As per usual procedure, 蘑菇视频 Secretary-General Guterres participated?and presided?over the Bureau elections.?In his remarks, the Secretary-General?stated?that the work of this Committee reminds the world that we must never lose sight of the core?objective: resolving the?Israeli Palestinian?conflict.?There is only one?viable?route: the two-State solution in line with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.?
• On?28 January,?the??briefed the Security?Council and focused?on?the importance of the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire plan. He said the latter?is critical and will require?Member?States’?firm and collective commitment. This is a genuine opportunity to lay the foundations for a more stable and secure future for Palestinians and Israelis, advance the goal of a legitimate Palestinian Government that can reunify Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and chart a course towards ending the occupation and advancing a political process that will ultimately end the conflict.?The Vice-Chair of the?蘑菇视频 Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People?delivered a statement?as well. He voiced the Committee’s grave?concerns?and rejection of?the decision?by Israel?to cancel the?permits?of dozens of international?NGOs?preventing their continued operation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, further depriving the population of desperately needed?assistance.?He?recalled?the General Assembly resolution adopted on 12 December 2025?that?gives?strong support?to the ICJ advisory opinion on the obligations of Israel?regarding?its presence and activities in the occupied Palestinian territory.?He reiterated?the necessity of a two-State solution based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as the capital of the?State of?Palestine.?
