Letter dated 13 February 2026 from the Chair of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People addressed to the President of the General Assembly

I have the honour to inform you that, by a note verbale dated 17 December 2025 addressed to the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (see annex), the Permanent Mission of Chile conveyed the request of its Government to become a member of the Committee.

The Committee, at its 426th meeting, on 3 February 2026, approved the request. In the light of the above, and since the membership of the Committee has been decided by the General Assembly, I have the honour to request that you bring the matter to the attention of the Assembly for its approval.

Annex

The Permanent Mission of Chile to the United Nations has the honour to inform you that the Government of the Republic of Chile wishes to request its admission as a member of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, in accordance with its applicable rules and procedures. The Republic of Chile attaches great importance to the work carried out by the Committee, in particular with regard to the pursuit of a two-State solution to the question of Palestine, and considers that its participation would enable it to contribute constructively to the achievement of the Committee¡¯s objectives. In this regard, the Mission would appreciate favourable consideration of the present request and remains at the Committee¡¯s disposal to provide any additional information that may be required.
