???????????????????? Joint statement on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Group in New York condemning Israel¡¯s attack on the United Nations Secretary General

26 October 2023

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in New York expresses its strong condemnation of the disrespectful and intimidating remarks by Israel against the United Nations Secretary-General Ant¨®nio Guterres. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation views this as an act of political coercion against the United Nations and its Secretary-General.

The Group expresses its appreciation for the Secretary-General and the role of United Nations agencies in drawing the attention of the international community towards the criminal attacks on civilians perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces, and for facilitating the provision of humanitarian supplies to the besieged people of Gaza. The Secretary-General¡¯s remarks are consistent with his duties and responsibilities under international law, international humanitarian law, the Charter of the United Nations and the resolutions of the United Nations. We express our full confidence in the Secretary-General and reaffirm support for his efforts to promote peace and security and uphold the Charter.
