THE CRISIS IN YARMOUK CAMP

12 JÄ¢¹½ÊÓƵE 2014

Our spokesperson Chris Gunness has the following to say on the situation in Yarmouk Camp

"No Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA distribution of humanitarian assistance was carried out in Yarmouk on 11 June. The Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA team did not proceed to Yarmouk as the usual arrangements for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA distribution had not been reinstated.

"Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA is concerned that this latest break in its Yarmouk distribution has extended to a fourth day. The Agency is pressing all concerned parties to restore daily distribution of humanitarian assistance to help address what remains a dire humanitarian crisis facing civilians in Yarmouk.  Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵRWA is concerned by the plight of the estimated 18,000 civilians trapped in Yarmouk and will continue to advocate for continuous, substantial and safe humanitarian distributions to civilians there.
