High-Level Briefings to Member States

Universal access to energy, increased energy efficiency and expanded use of renewables ¡ª targets of Sustainable Development Goal 7 ¡ª are central to the achievement of both the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, and countries will be reviewing progress on this goal in July at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ High Level Political Forum 2018 .
The briefings are part of an effort to scale up actions to achieve SDG7, which are also critical for achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
The multistakeholder SDG7 Technical Advisory Group, convened by the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Department of Economic and Social Affairs, will launch the publication ¡°Accelerating SDG7 Achievement: Policy Briefs in support of the first SDG 7 review at the Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ High Level Political Forum 2018¡± at the briefing to Member States on 18 April.

- A series of technical panels of experts will feature members of the multi-stakeholder SDG7 Technical Advisory Group (SDG7-TAG) and other contributors to the 27 SDG7 Policy Briefs, to share key policy messages from the briefs.
14:45 ¨C 17:00: High-Level Briefings and Interactive Dialogues (ECOSOC Chamber)
- Following the ceremonial launch of the SDG7 Policy Briefs as well as high-level remarks, senior representatives of Member States and multi-stakeholders are invited to share their perspectives in an interactive open dialogue session.
