Ms. Fiam\u0113 Naomi Mata&#8217;afa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Antigua and Barbuda, Mr. Everly Paul Chet Greene, among other interlocutors.<\/p>\n<p>President Francis will also host a roundtable discussion on Gender Equality in SIDS; engage with a small group of children and young people before participating in the closing ceremony of the SIDS Children and Youth Action Summit; and meet with civil society organizations.<\/p>\n<p>During the SIDS4 Conference, in Antigua and Barbuda, President Francis will continue to advocate for the inclusion of vulnerability in measuring prosperity and securing access to development finance whilst highlighting the impacts of climate change, including sea-level rise and the threats posed to Small Island Developing States.<\/p>\n<p>The critical issue of sea-level rise, which is one of the PGA\u2019s main priorities, will be discussed by world leaders during the General Assembly High-Level Week in September.<\/p>\n<p>The PGA\u2019s delegation includes his Chef de Cabinet, his Special Adviser on Gender Equality and Women\u2019s Empowerment, a Special Adviser, a Team Leader for Sustainable Development and Financing for Development, as well as a Communications Adviser.<\/p>\n<p>Travel costs for the visit are covered by the OPGA\u2019s Trust Fund and the Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Regular Budget.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵGA NEXT WEEK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For your calendars next week. Member States will meet for informal consultations on the Summit of Future on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>As we announced yesterday, also on Thursday the 30<sup>th<\/sup> at 10 a.m. the General Assembly will hold a plenary meeting to pay tribute to the memory of the late President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Ebrahim Raisi, who died on Sunday, 19 May.<\/p>\n<p>As per the GA\u2019s practice \u201cto pay tribute to the memory of a deceased national leader who was the sitting Head of State at the time of death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And on Thursday and Friday, Member States will hold informal consultations on the high-level meeting on antimicrobial resistance.<\/p>\n<p>This is all we have for today and for this week. Assembly, Mr. Dennis Francis, spoke this morning, at the opening of the High-level Panel on Public accessibility and inclusivity: developing strategic initiatives to raise awareness on the role of and work of Ombudsman and mediator institutions in the promotion and protection of human rights, good governance and the rule of law.<\/p><p>In his remarks, the PGA highlighted the relevance of Ombudsman and Mediator Institutions as \u201cguardians of human rights and as enablers of accountability and transparency for good governance.\u201d<\/p><p>President Francis added that they ensure that public authorities adhere to legal and highest ethical standards, forming an integral aspect of \u201cour ongoing efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals\u201d.<\/p><p>The high-level panel Francis will deliver remarks in a meeting to mark World Football Day which will take place each 25<sup>th<\/sup> of May, starting this year.<\/p><p>The resolution, introduced by Libya, was adopted by the General Assembly by consensus on 7 May.<\/p><p>This year, the world marks the 100<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the first international football tournament in history as part of the 1924 Summer Olympic Games.<\/p><p>The PGA emphasizes the universal role of football which transcends borders and has the power to bring people together.<\/p><p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>PGA TO SPEAK AT INTERNATIONAL DIALOGUE ON MIGRATION<\/strong><\/p><p>The President of the General Assembly will take part, later today, in the 2024 International Dialogue on Migration (IDM) which opened on Tuesday, 21 May.<\/p><p>The first session of the Dialogue is taking place under the theme \u201cFacilitating regular pathways to a better future: harnessing the power of migration\u201d.<\/p><p>The meeting is focusing on how to create better opportunities for people in the move in face of the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.<\/p><p>According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), there are at least 281 million migrants in the world, which equates to 3.6 per cent of the global population or one in 30 persons.<\/p><p>The PGA will deliver remarks alongside the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Ms. Amy Pope, and the President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), H.E.
