Zico (Arthur Antunes Coimbra) is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history and the greatest icon of Flamengo. A technically gifted playmaker known for his vision, leadership, and free-kick mastery, he was the driving force behind Flamengo¡¯s golden era in the late 1970s and early 1980s, leading the club to major titles including the 1981 Copa Libertadores and Intercontinental Cup.
Zico is Flamengo¡¯s all-time top scorer, with 508 goals, and also the all-time top scorer at the Maracan? ¡ª achievements that cement his status as a symbol of the club¡¯s identity and the passion of its fans. He was also named by FIFA as one of the 100 greatest players of the 20th century and received numerous individual awards in Brazil and worldwide.
Beyond his success with Flamengo, he represented the Brazil national team in three FIFA World Cups (1978, 1982, 1986) and played internationally in Italy and Japan, contributing to the global growth of football.
